Comedian’s Video About Bedtime With A Toddler Will Make You Feel Seen

If you’ve got a little kid who likes to delay bedtime as long as possible, this comedian’s video is for you

“What is lava made from?” “Why do we have butt cracks?” “I had a booger, but I got it out and I just wanted to tell you.” If you have a toddler or young child, then you’ve probably heard some variation of the above while you’re desperately trying to get them to go to sleep. One comedian’s video impersonation of this daily tête-à-tête is going viral because, well, you’ve just gotta see for yourself. And laugh.

Comedian Shaun Johnson’s “Bedtime Excuses” video is making parents everywhere nod and chuckle — and it’s not hard to see why.

Playing every beleaguered mom there ever was, Johnson asks the toddler version of himself, “Why are you out of bed?”

The familiar answer? “I can’t sleep.” Though it’s definitely past the kid’s bedtime, that doesn’t stop The Asking Of The Questions or the Telling Of The Things. You know, like “I was scared but I’m not scared anymore” and whether “they’re” going to impeach Trump. “I think I was sleepwalking” is also a good one. LOL.

“I was in bed and one of my socks was itching so I came down to let you know one of my socks was itching” is probably the most spot-on part of the entire video. If it’s bedtime and your small child is even the tiniest bit uncomfortable (for my four-year-old, it comes down to wedgies and boogers in her nose), you will hear about it.

Even if you’re not expected to fix it, you will still hear about their sudden “problem” and how they solved it. Repeatedly, until the end of time. Or at least until they’re old enough to love and covet sleep the way nature intended.

This video is every bit as good as comedian Trey Kennedy‘s “Middle Schoolers” parody. Because while the toddler phase may be tough, the tweens are every bit as draining (even if they sleep like angels).

If nothing else, it’s nice to know that we’re all in solidarity with the thousands of parents who watch these videos and can commiserate about our stubborn-but-lovable kiddos. So maybe the next time we’re tucking our little ones in for the millionth time in one night or when our 12-year-olds come home from school with drama and attitude, we’ll think of these videos and smile. While pouring a glass of wine, to be sure, but with a fond smile for the kids who drive us crazy.

Japanese Women Are Fighting To Wear Eyeglasses To Work — Yes, Really

The hashtag #glassesban is trending on Twitter following a news segment that revealed many Japanese companies do not allow their employees wear glasses

There are so many things that we take for granted living in the United States. This includes liberties such as freedom of speech, democracy (OK, so this is up for debate), and apparently, the right for women to wear eyeglasses at the office? Japanese women are currently fighting for their right to wear spectacles to work, following Japan’s Nippon TV airing a segment about the absurdity of the nation’s prescriptive beauty standards set force by employers.

According to the segment, glasses give shop assistants a “cold impression,” are a safety risk for airline workers, and are simply not appropriate for women working in the beauty sector, as their made-up faces can’t be properly viewed.

Some Japanese companies are enforcing a no glasses rule for women employees. Why?

— Bloomberg TicToc (@tictoc) November 8, 2019

Ever since the segment aired on Nov. 6, the hashtag #glassesban has been trending on Twitter with people — both women and men — around the world expressing their outrage over the many companies that have made it official policy that females must wear contact lenses instead of prescription glasses.

#GlassesBan Misogyny exists

Women have rights but not in Japan as we see What does that mean “women aren’t allowed to wear glasses”(in certain companies)?! This is a problem we have to speak about Speak up for all the Japanese women that need our support

Because how women look is more important than how women see.#GlassesBan https://t.co/3MQv7u5XwE

#Canada, Justin Mayer Group Inc & Mayer Digital Agency love equality & equal rights, we work hard for workers rights & have some of the best laws defending employees in the World. We love #JapaneseWomen, we let them wear almost anything they want, as they should. 1f642.png#glassesban

— mayerdigitalagency (@mayerdigiagency) November 8, 2019

“The emphasis on appearance is often on young women and wanting them to look feminine,” Banri Yanagi, a 40-year-old sales associate at a life insurer in Tokyo, said in an interview, per Bloomberg. “It’s strange to allow men to wear glasses but not women.”

If glasses are the issue at hand, shouldn’t employees of all genders wear contacts? “If wearing glasses is a real problem at work it should be banned for everyone — men and women,” Ishikawa continued. “This problem with glasses is the exact same as high heels. It’s only a rule for female workers.”

Amid headlines that companies in Japan are banning women from wearing glasses at work, here is a selfie of me wearing mine in protest. Let women wear what they want, stop trying to control us (and our bodies!). #glassesareforbidden pic.twitter.com/3j4FQgPBbZ

— Rose LaBreche (@RoseLaBreche) November 8, 2019

Did we mention women are forced to wear heels, too? Ishikawa was previously the brainchild behind a petition signed by more than 31,000 supporters in agreement that standing in uncomfortable heels all day should not be a job prerequisite for women at the office. Apparently the Health, Labor and Welfare Minister at the time, Takumi Nemoto was all for the heels-at-work rule. “It’s generally accepted by society that is necessary and reasonable in workplaces,” Nemoto said.

Makeup is another issue altogether, as many employers require women employees to come to work with a painted face. Yes, sexism in the workplace is definitely happening in Japan.

High heels , glasses . For all its advancements , #Japan is still stuck in the age of the samurai . Old men in black suits making the rules #Glassesban #KuToo .

— Mark (@chudds007) November 9, 2019

The BBC reports that Kumiko Nemoto, professor of sociology at Kyoto University of Foreign Studies, dubbed the policies “outdated.”

“The reasons why women are not supposed to wear glasses… really don’t make sense. It’s all about gender. It’s pretty discriminatory,” Kumiko said, adding that they were representative of “old, traditional Japanese” thinking. “It’s not about how women do their work. The company… values the women’s appearance as being feminine and that’s opposite to someone who wears glasses.”

Japan isn’t totally outdated with their workplace standards, however. Microsoft Japan recently broke ground when they tried out a new, progressive four-day work week with their employees. Giving their staff an extra day off proved fruitful, as productivity increased by 40 percent.

Church’s ‘1st Dance Guidelines’ For Girls Will Make Your Head Explode

A “First Dance Kit” has gone viral that tells girls to “never say ‘No’ to a guy who had the courage to walk over and ask you to dance”

A Facebook post advertising a so-called “First Dance Kit” that teaches girls damaging patriarchal “facts” like the importance of following the dress code so you don’t make boys “uncomfortable” and reads like something out of The Handmaid’s Tale, has gone viral. The handout is basically a primer in protecting the male ego and Ashlee Allen Feegan of Utah told Scary Mommy that her friend’s 14-year-old daughter received a copy of the “First Dance Kit” at her Mormon church’s youth group, which the mom then shared online in a Facebook group for former members of the Mormon Church.

When Feegan shared the handout online, she highlighted two sections, the first of which concerns the dance dress code and how important it is that girls police their own bodies so that no boy is “uncomfortable.”

“Don’t forget what the approved dress standards are when choosing your outfit,” it reads. “You don’t want the embarrassment of being asked to go home and change. And you don’t want the guy dancing with you to feel uncomfortable because of the questionable outfit that you somehow justified.”

How many school dress code policies must go viral before everyone gets on the same page about this? We are running out of ways to say “stop policing girls’ bodies and start teaching boys to respect girls’ bodies!” Why is this still hard for school and church leaders to understand?

The next section is listed in BOLD and will absolutely set you over the edge. The church tells girls to “never say ‘No’ to a guy who had the courage to walk over and ask you to dance in the first place.”

What the literal hell? There’s also another section about cautioning young girls from talking to their friends because this might deter a young boy from asking her to dance. Yes, it does take courage to ask a girl to dance, but this church needs to be less concerned with boys not getting any action at a dance and more concerned with teaching kids (especially boys) how to deal with rejection.

fb-comments.pngFacebook

There’s also a reminder to young girls to “paint your nails” and “wear a little lip gloss.” Oh, and to brush their teeth? WTF.

Feegan tells us that she was motivated to share the post on her Facebook page as a way to call out the “purity culture that resides within the LDS church.” As for the LDS church, there is nothing “pure” about a young woman who bends her will to accommodate the sexual whims of men. As one very wise commenter — who said she received a similar letter from the church when she was a girl — put it, “ is a form of grooming young women to never say no to men.”

fb-commet.jpgFacebook

Fegan said the “dance kit” was created by a local blogger who apparently removed the handout from her blog after the backlash, though it’s unclear if the church still practices this damaging hetero-patriarchal ethos. For the sake of the young girls in their congregation, we sincerely hope not.

Photographer Mom Perfectly Nails Her Son’s ‘Up’ Themed Birthday Shoot

These ‘Up’ themed birthday photos look straight out of the movie

Right after her twins were born, photographer Rachel Perman was diagnosed with cancer. She wondered at the time how many of their birthdays she would get to celebrate. It means birthdays are a pretty special thing for their family, and Perman decided to celebrate this year by putting together some truly magical photo shoots for her twin boy and girl, including one inspired by the Pixar movie Up that is actual perfection.

up-photo-shoot-1.jpgRachel Perman Photography

“For their fifth birthday I wanted to celebrate the things they love with photos!” Perman tells Scary Mommy. “It’s a celebration for me and them. The inspiration for the sessions were to celebrate all that my kids love! Elijah is very particular. He is borderline addicted to Up and has been for several years. It’s the only thing he draws and colors (the house with balloons) and the only books he wants to get at the library, and the only toy he wanted when we were in Disney World last year. He loves Up!”

up-photo-shoot-6.jpgRachel Perman Photography

Um, yeah, we would say his love for Up is extremely apparent in the photos. Just look at his face and how hard he’s cheesin’ in that photo. Adorable.

What makes this photo shoot even better is that Perman enlisted Elijah’s 90-year-old great-grandparents Richard and Caroline Bain to join in the fun dressed impeccably as Carl and Ellie from the movie.

up-photo-shoot-3.jpgRachel Perman Photography

Seriously, how well did they nail those looks?

up-photo-shoot-2.jpgRachel Perman Photography

“They were thrilled to participate and loved that I asked them,” Perman said. “Grandpa even went to the thrift store to get the jacket and hose. He said, ‘I noticed in a photo Carl had a hose over his shoulder.’ They have never seen the movie!”

Plus, it’s a great chance to get some sweet shots of the couple rocking their costumes.

up-photo-shoot-4.jpgRachel Perman Photography

But the real star of this shoot is, of course, Elijah, who is a picture-perfect Russell. His costume is perfect, and he’s clearly so happy about it in all of the photos. Just look at his sweet smile.

up-photo-shoot-5.jpgRachel Perman Photography

Plus, going viral has been a chance for little Elijah to see what an impact his joy can have on the world.

“I had no clue this would receive recognition!” Perman said. “It’s been fun to see how many people are touched by it! I keep telling the kids, ‘You are good at bringing happiness to us, now you are making the nation happy too!'”

Actress Defends Herself Against Idiots Who Call C-Sections ‘Easy’

Gemma Atkinson has words for those who think a c-section is in any way “easy”

UK actress Gemma Atkinson gave birth to her first child over the summer and in the weeks since, she’s posted a number of precious photos and updates about life as a new mom. Of course, part of new mom life is dealing with those who feel the need to judge and weigh in about every single aspect of pregnancy, birth, and a mom’s parenting decisions. Atkinson recently addressed one of those topics in a very honest Instagram post about being told her c-section birth was the “easy” way out.

Um, hell no.

Alongside a meme about exactly how brave c-section moms are, Atkinson writes, “A lady recently joked with me that id had the easy option when it came to having Mia as I didn’t experience ‘proper labour’ she wasn’t being nasty, she said it in jest and she was actually really lovely, but it did get me thinking when I got home. Had I failed? Had I not done it ‘properly’?”

A lady recently joked with me that id had the easy option when it came to having Mia as I didn’t experience “proper labour” she wasn’t being nasty, she said it in jest and she was actually really lovely, but it did get me thinking when I got home. Had I failed? Had I not done it “properly” ? After a good chat with myself i came to the conclusion that the only “proper” way to have a baby is the way that’s safest for you and your baby. There is nothing easy about having a section. There is nothing easy about a vaginal delivery. They are both tiring, scary, emotionally draining and each have their own recovery process both mentally & physically. However you brought your baby into the world was right for you and your baby at that time and that’s what matters. To any mums who like me, had to have a section and are feeling a little odd about it (which is normal) the above is for you. 2764.png

Infuriating, right? Any mom who’s been there knows that there’s nothing easy about a c-section. And for the record? There’s no “easy” way of giving birth, period.

Which is exactly what Atkinson thought.

“After a good chat with myself i came to the conclusion that the only ‘proper’ way to have a baby is the way that’s safest for you and your baby. There is nothing easy about having a section. There is nothing easy about a vaginal delivery. They are both tiring, scary, emotionally draining and each have their own recovery process both mentally & physically.”

This picture was taken when Mia was 30hrs old. The weary smile on my face doesn’t quite portray how happy I was inside as 30hrs earlier, things could have gone very differently. Mia was a tiny baby, 4lb 10. With that in mind the midwife was concerned she wouldn’t be strong enough to open my cervix. My water broke on a tues & we gave her the benefit of the doubt but by the Wednesday evening despite her being in the perfect place & so low down, she still hadn’t managed it. The decision was made to induce me to help her along but she disliked that even more. With every contraction her heart rate dropped. On the 3rd one midwife Katie who was taking care of me at the time pressed the panic alarm & within 15 mins I was rushed out, prepped & delivered Mia via an emergency C section. It wasn’t what I’d planned but thanks to my hypnobirthing despite the madness & panic, I was able to calmly keep my breathing technique & accept whatever is best for Mia just do it! 2hrs later I was alone with Gorks & Mia blissfully happy in a ward when I suddenly felt extremely unwell. Gorka got a doctor and she took 1 look at me & again pressed the panic button. I was having a hemorrhage. A big one & I lost a lot of blood. I don’t remember much other than having around 9 doctors in the room, some injecting me, hooking me to drips, physically pulling clots out of me & one comforting Gorks who was beside himself in the corner. I woke in another room with Gorks & my family there, Mia sleeping soundly & a lovely midwife named Di who was checking my notes. The trauma was over & thanks to our NHS & incredible hospital staff we were ok. I’m fully aware for some people it’s a different outcome & I feel incredibly lucky that me & Mia are healthy & healed. My mum moved in with me while Gorks was away & has been incredible! If I can be half the mum she is to me I’ll be happy! I’m going to remind Mia of this story any time she has doubts about what she can achieve in life. The odds were against her from the start, but she’s been a little fighter from day 1. Feeds perfectly & is gaining weight like I do on an all inclusive holiday! We’re SO proud of her, she’s our little soldier & I’m so Grateful 2764.png

A post shared by Gemma Atkinson (@glouiseatkinson) on Jul 20, 2019 at 3:01am PDT

She absolutely nailed it. Frankly, only people who have never had a c-section could ever think they were “easy.” And even then, if a person has even the smallest bit of information about what a c-section actually entails, they would know how totally wrong that idea is. I had two and while I admit I went through a period of feeling like my birth experience wasn’t the “right” or “real” way to have things go down, I later realized exactly what Atkinson did — that there’s no such thing as the “right” way.

New Parents Post Bonkers List Of Meal Requests On NextDoor App

meal-train-tweet.jpg?fit=587%2C308All new parents should be comfortable reaching out for help after a new baby, but absolutely not like this

The arrival of a first baby brings joy and happiness, but it can also be an overwhelming amount of around-the-clock work. That’s why it’s become traditional to put aside your pride and reach out to friends and family for help in those first few months, through meal trains and small favors.

But oh my god, do not do what this couple did.

It all started when Philadelphia resident Jack Jokinen joined Nextdoor, the social media platform that lets you connect with people in your neighborhood. He saw a post made by some expectant parents who lived nearby who were asking for help after the birth of their baby – and going about it in the completely wrong way.

The week I got a thing in my mailbox to join a social network @Nextdoor. People in my neighborhood can alert each other about crime and stuff like that. Great idea! But today someone posted the most ridiculous thing ever (1/?)

— JJ (@JJFromTheBronx) April 18, 2019

It starts out pretty normally, with the couple asking for help if anyone is feeling neighborly, but pretty quickly spirals out of control.

"My wife and I are having a baby. I'm starting a meal train because it is our first and neither of us have a clue what we're doing. If you are feeling neighborly" so I clicked the link bc there is no way these people are asking strangers to make them food bc they have 1 baby(2/?)

— JJ (@JJFromTheBronx) April 18, 2019

“As the father-to-be, I’m teetering on a fence of emotions,” the man, who is apparently named Jim Burns, wrote in Meal Train. “One of the things I’m most afraid of is not getting a great deal of sleep and as a result not being in the best frame of mind to offer my wife the support she needs to recover from the child-birthing process.”

Turns out they are in fact asking total strangers to help them and with the most millennial phrasing I have ever seen in my life. (3/?) pic.twitter.com/ex0o9LBKVo

— JJ (@JJFromTheBronx) April 18, 2019

Then comes the part where you start to wonder if these people are parodying the very worst people on Meal Train, or if they are so entitled and oblivious that they don’t realize stranger aren’t going to want to bring them bags of dry roasted unsalted almonds.

Trying not to be negative, I figured maybe it's like "if you make a lasagna and make too much, we would accept it". That would be very reasonable inside a totally unreasonable ask. BUT THERE WERE 30+ SPECIFIC MEALS WITH RECIPES pic.twitter.com/BkE2kBuhyJ

— JJ (@JJFromTheBronx) April 18, 2019

Like, they actually went there. Homemade granola? I don’t even make that for my own family. And has anyone priced out Italian antipasto, meats and cheeses recently? Because that stuff is expensive AF.

Screen-Shot-2019-04-22-at-4.25.09-PM.png?resize=600%2C623

Holy buckets.

Screen-Shot-2019-04-22-at-4.25.01-PM.png?resize=600%2C745

Yes, this list of meal ideas is not only super-specific, but it’s also expensive and time-consuming. Even if you were asking your friends and family (and not the neighborhood) for help, you should be roughly one million times more accommodating than, “kale and goat cheese ricotta cups” or “sweet potato salmon cakes with chipotle mayo.” Or “lamb meatball stew with orzo” GOOD LORD. Also? The amount of time it took to helpfully gather these recipes was probably enough to make a tray of baked ziti. Just saying.

Screen-Shot-2019-04-22-at-4.36.14-PM.png?resize=600%2C771

THEN THEY LET YOU KNOW WHAT THEY DONT LIKE AND IF YOU CANT ACCOMMODATE, YOU CAN COME AND DO THEIR DISHES OR VACCUUM. WASH THEIR FUCKING DISHES OR VACUUM THEIR HOUSE?!?!?!?!?! pic.twitter.com/yJ6IXJ56TW

— JJ (@JJFromTheBronx) April 18, 2019

But don’t worry! If you’re somehow all out of escarole, white bean, and kale casserole, they invite you to do their dishes or vacuum. Again, this is a perfectly fine ask of your best friend forever, who you helped when she had surgery last year, but not from your friendly neighbors who you sometimes nod at when you get your mail.

This guy then tops it all off be telling us we can sign up for a day to text, and if they decide they would rather not see people, WE CAN COOK THEM A MEAL AND LEAVE IT FOR THEM IN A COOLER HIS WILL PROVIDE IN THE YARD BECAUSE HE COULDN'T BE BOTHERED ANSWERING THE DOOR pic.twitter.com/FXtNRgVa8Z

— JJ (@JJFromTheBronx) April 18, 2019

And as if this wasn’t bad enough, Jim and Alex want you to know that they might not even be friendly about you helping out. In fact, if they’re not in the mood to say freaking thank you, they’ll leave a cooler in the front yard so that you can just drop off your (checks notes) chickpea, avocado, and chicken grain bowls.

Nope, that is not how meal trains work. You at least have to open the door and look the person in the eye and say thanks before taking the food. And if you really know how meal trains work, you’ll let the person coo over the baby for a minute, or invite them in for a quick chat, since they bought ingredients and prepared your family an entire meal.

Here’s what JJ thought of that:

If I don't egg their house, I deserve an award

— JJ (@JJFromTheBronx) April 18, 2019

Jokinen tells Scary Mommy that he doesn’t know the couple personally, and that he doesn’t think reaching out for help is in poor taste at all – depending on how you do it.

“I don’t think they’re bad people,” he says. “It was just an over-the-top ask to be so specific to strangers with the recipes using high end ingredients.”

The responses to JJ’s rant about Burns’ meal requests were mixed. Some people defended the new parents for asking what they needed (fresh seasonal fruits, chocolate peanut butter energy balls, dark chocolate (70 percent ONLY please).

As long as they give back when it's their neighbor's turn to be in need then what on earth is the problem with this? Do you just like not knowing your neighbors or caring about them?

— Zoe Samuel (@zoe_samuel) April 19, 2019

Dude, chill. Meal trains have been around forever. Their approach is a little intense...but helping out a neighbor in need (new baby, surgery, death in the family, etc) is not that radical for most ppl

— Kathryn Hadel (@kathrynhadel) April 19, 2019

But other people called them out on what is just so obviously a lot of ridiculousness where a couple should probably be accommodating and thankful rather than insanely demanding.

If they spent less time writing up ridiculous requests and arrangements, they could have prepped a weeks worth of dinners themselves.

— lauren lin (@laurenlinmurch) April 18, 2019

They’re having a baby, not both dying of cancer. Reality is hopefully going to slap these two in the face one day.

— Andrea Bachman (@BachmanAndrea) April 18, 2019

Just in case you possibly need to brush up on your meal train etiquette: don’t ask for gourmet food, or food with expensive ingredients – keep it to basics and just mention any allergies or total deal-breakers you have. If you are writing the words “Muesli snacking cookies,” dial it back immediately. Express your gratitude. Only send the link to friends and family – and if you don’t have a support network, you can still reach out to strangers, just be really, really nice about it.

The original posts are down now – and Burns talked to The New York Post about the experience.

“I apologize if it was taken the wrong way — and I’m frankly just very surprised and a little disheartened by … the response,” he said. “If they are not interested, then they don’t have to check that site or do anything. This is the world we live in.”

Hopefully, they learned a lesson in how to ask for things. Because tons of people are willing to help new families, neighbors included, as long as they don’t feel like they’re being taken advantage of from the get-go. And as long as we don’t have to go to the store to buy farro and 70% dark chocolate.

This Mom’s Reaction To Her Kids Shaving Their Heads Is Peak Parenting

mom-kids-head-shaved.jpg?fit=587%2C308A little boy gave his siblings some very special haircuts and their mom’s reaction is gold

Kids get into things — fast. I don’t care how much you think you’re watching over them, they are curious creatures and that curiosity can sometimes lead to adorable (and not so adorable) troublemaking. One mom found that out the hard way when she hopped in a quick shower to get ready for work and her kids found the dog grooming clippers. You can imagine how that went down — and her reaction to the whole thing is just lovely.

Over the weekend, Stephanie Plucknette, a full-time nurse and mother of three kids, five-year-old Teddy, three-year-old Eloise, and two-year-old Fred, told BuzzFeed she left the kids in the backyard for a couple of minutes so she could take a quick shower before work. That was apparently the perfect amount of time for her oldest to find an electric clipper and give the trio haircuts.

She shared the aftermath with family and friends and her younger brother, Ian, decided to share the hilariousness on Twitter so the world could witness said haircuts real-time.

Y’all, my nephew found the electric shaver and went wild 1f602.png1f602.png1f602.png1f62d.png1f62d.png1f62d.pngpic.twitter.com/qdPbwYzs10

— Ian Hagadorn (@itsiannn) April 13, 2019

The video shows Plucknette’s kids in various stages of hair loss showing their mom their new ‘dos. She said, “I’m crying…because look,” panning to Teddy, who seemed to be the culprit of the entire situation. Props to him though, he didn’t just shave his little sibling’s hair, he did a number on his own as well.

Bless.

“Earlier in the day I had just given the dog a shave out in the backyard, and I wasn’t done clipping her, but I left the clippers outside and I got side-tracked and went grocery shopping and cleaned the house and did other things,” she told BuzzFeed. When she realized what had happened, she said her “first reaction was ‘No no no…'”

Quickly, Plucknette regrouped and can be heard on the video cry-laughing and trying to reassure her kids, “it’s just hair.” “We’ll make it work, OK? We’ll make it work,” she continued. She also hilariously tries to sweep what’s left of Eloise’s hair over the giant naked spot like some sort of middle-aged bald man, alas it was not to be.

Plucknette said she gave her brother permission to share the video on social media but was shocked and a little sick when it went viral so quickly. “These are my kids and you can’t take this stuff back,” she said. “I am private. This is fun, but I also want to be protective over my children.”

Lucky for Plucknette, people were quick to jump in and tell her what a great mom she is and to laugh right along with her:

I love how she was freaked out but didn’t show it too much for them to freak out. She assured her kids saying “it’s okay, it’s just hair, it will grow back, you still look like a girl, we can fix it”

This mom is so understanding and communicative with her kids, it’s wonderful to watch. When the kid admitted he cut his brother’s hair and she told him “Honesty, that’s good! It’s just hair, it grows back” THAT WAS GOOD PARENTING RIGHT THERE.

Hagadorn shared an updated video as well and judging by all the dancing, the boys seem to be loving their new haircuts. No word on Eloise, who can be heard in the original video asking her mom, “Mommy, can you put more hair on my head?” Oh sweet, sweet Eloise. No, mommy cannot.

“My daughter goes, ‘I look like a boy now,’ and I go, ‘No, you’re still beautiful. It doesn’t define you. There’s more to you,'” Plucknette said. Well done, mama.

Lady Gaga Wore a $30 Million Tiffany Necklace to The Oscars

In spite of missing out on the Best Actress Award, Lady Gaga's name dominated this year's Oscars. This was largely in thanks to her electric performance with Bradley Cooper - but was also helped by a particularly smart choice of jewelry.

Kim Kardashian Shared Pics Of Her Psoriasis And It’s Relatable AF

GettyImages-870662092.jpg?w=587Kim Kardashian West opening up about her psoriasis is so refreshing

It seems like Kim Kardashian West has it all – unfortunately, “all” includes the chronic skin condition psoriasis. Along with 125 million people around the world, Kardashian suffers from the sometimes painful and embarrassing rashes – but she does it with honesty, grace and humor. Her latest posts on Instagram about her battle are relatable both to others who have the disease and to anyone who struggles with a chronic medical condition.

The reality television star took to Instagram on Monday night to share a few selfies that depict exactly what it’s like to go through a psoriasis outbreak, and she managed to do it in a way that showed both her pain and frustration as well as her positive attitude.

“Psoriasis is the shits!” She joked in the first picture that she shared to her Stories, followed by a crying-from-laughing emoji.

In the second picture, she clarified that the treatments on her face were an herbal ointment.

Finally, she showed a picture of her legs, which is where her body has been most affected by the rash. “Sexy,” she wrote about the red spots, as she pulled up a towel to show them off.

Psoriasis is a skin condition likely involving the immune system in which skin cells build up more quickly than they’re supposed to, creating red, scaly, itchy patches. Some people only have isolated patches, while others might have body-wide outbreaks. It’s believed to be a genetic condition (it can’t be passed to others) that appears in young adulthood. Although there isn’t a known cure, treatments can minimize the issue, relieve itching, and shorten outbreaks.

Outbreaks can be caused by colds, stress, or injuries.

Kardashian was diagnosed with the condition in 2011, and the experience was captured on her reality show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians. At first she thought it was ringworm, but it turns out it was the beginning of a battle that has been getting worse over the years.

At the time, she was worried about how the diagnosis would affect her life.

“When the doctor tells me I have psoriasis I have heard of it before because my mom has always had it but my mom didn’t have red flaky dots all over her,” Kardashian West said on the show. “My career is doing ad campaigns and swimsuit photo shoots. People don’t understand the pressure on me to look perfect. Imagine what the tabloids would do to me if they saw all these spots.”

She’s been open about her struggle since the beginning. She’s shared her emotions on the subject on Twitter and Instagram as well as her journey to find treatments that work for her, from light treatments to detox smoothies to celery juice.

Then in 2018, she reached out for more help. “I think the time has come I start a medication for psoriasis,” she wrote on Twitter. “I’ve never seen it like this before and I can’t even cover it at this point. It’s taken over my body.”

I think the time has come I start a medication for psoriasis. I’ve never seen it like this before and I can’t even cover it at this point. It’s taken over my body. Has anyone tried a medication for psoriasis & what kind works best? Need help ASAP!!!

— Kim Kardashian West (@KimKardashian) December 24, 2018

“I have that one patch on my right leg that is the most visible,” Kardashian West said in a post on her app, which has since been taken down. “I don’t even really try to cover it that much anymore. Sometimes I just feel like it’s my big flaw and everyone knows about it, so why cover it? After this many years, I’ve really learned to live with it.”

Currently, she uses a cortisone lotion before bed to help treat it, along with her natural treatments.

But while she’s learning to live with it, things are still hard. Last week, the Daily Mail called her out for having a “bad skin day” and Kardashian shot back explaining it was her skin condition flaring.

Even then, she was open and honest both about her condition and how she felt about it.

Other than a few gossip rags, the response to Kim’s struggle, and her attitude about her condition, have been overwhelmingly positive.

@KimKardashian Kim, no matter how much psoriasis you have oh, you have made your mark on the world.People know that you're beautiful inside and out. We all have flaws. Even you. That's what makes you perfect. I have it all over. More than just the photos. Can't wear dresses.

Here’s to celebs (who we all too often assume are perfect) opening up about their struggles, imperfections, and battles.

This Twitter Thread Of People Who Forgot Words Will Make You LOL

TWEET.png?w=587Even a Ph.D. physicist forgets his words from time to time, just like all of us

It seems on a daily basis a word I’m trying to think of escapes me. Maybe it’s age, maybe it’s that having kids has sucked any short or long term memory I used to possess out of my brain, forever. If anyone else experiences this on the daily, this next Twitter thread is for you.

Paul Coxon — a physicist in materials science at the University of Cambridge — admitted he, too, forgot what he was trying to say during a meeting with colleagues and instead of saying the word “photon” decided “shiny crumb” would have to suffice.

Hello my name is Paul, I have a PhD in physics and thanks to a random brain freeze forgot the word for photon so had to call it a “shiny crumb” in front of my colleagues 1f610.png

— Paul Coxon (@paulcoxon) February 18, 2019

“Hello my name is Paul, I have a PhD in physics and thanks to a random brain freeze forgot the word for photon so had to call it a “shiny crumb” in front of my colleagues,” he wrote. Oh, Paul, we’ve all been there and we are so happy someone with your education also has brainfarts from time to time.

People were quick to jump and make Paul feel better about himself:

One of the guys I used to work with forgot the name for a tape measure - called it a "how far machine" - it's passed into everyday vocabulary now!

— susan long (@hardleygirl) February 20, 2019

Haha my sympathies. Shiny crumb is a much better name for it. My 17yo forgot the word for “foal” in the summer and called it a “horse puppy” instead. I don’t think any one of us will ever use the word “foal” again...

— Mel clarke (@Bramptonmel) February 18, 2019

My brother in law forgot the word "saddle", and came up with "horse seat".

— Dr. Sundry Letters (@SalCross) February 18, 2019

One of my cleverest and most fabulous friends at university (now PhD in neuroscience) once forgot the word for what she wanted in a restaurant and tried to explain with “like a really REALLY wet salad”.Soup.She wanted soup.

— Wesley Mallin (@wesleymallin) February 18, 2019

Soup shall forever be known as “a really wet salad.”

“My department has lots of very bright students and researchers from all over the world and I have immense respect for my colleagues studying for PhDs in what may be their second or even third language,” Coxon tells Bored Panda. “Since my Tweet, lots of people on Twitter replied sharing the times their minds have gone blank and forgotten words, and lots have been hilarious. The human mind is remarkable.”

The people did not disappoint:

Not in the same delightful league, but in the final throes of writing SATC, I forgot the word 'fork' while sitting in a restaurant. I asked a waiter for "one of the metal things with four stabby fingers". Obviously, he looked at me like I was insane 1f602.png

— Laurie Winkless (@laurie_winkless) February 19, 2019

Hi. I’m Elizabeth. I have a First Class BA(Hons) and thanks to a random brain freeze forgot my husband’s name when introducing him to the Chairman of the Board of the company at which I worked.

— Elizabeth Cottuli (@cuigcead) February 18, 2019

When I was pregnant with my first, I cried one day because I forgot the word "banana."I described it to my then-husband, "It comes it its own case! It's yellow!"

— danish butter cookies (@fisty) February 19, 2019

I forgot the word ‘articulate’ in an interview for a voluntary post and instead said ‘I’m good at saying things’. I am a criminal barrister

— Kathy Hirst (@kathy_hirst) February 18, 2019

I’m a prosecutor. During a particularly dramatic closing argument years ago, I forgot the defendant’s name. “And that’s why you should find … (pause) … (pause) … THAT GUY guilty!”And so I learned why prosecutors always say “the defendant.” 1f642.png

— I Am The Egg, Man. (@POBrien14) February 19, 2019

Once when I was calling to make my then seven-month-old son his well-check appointment, the nurse asked for his date of birth, I froze. “Um, I know it was warm. Sorry, he’s my third. I’m pretty sure it was in August,” I stammered. After an uncomfortable pause, she asked for his first and last name (which I did remember) and after some typing, she said, “The seventh. He was born on September 7th.”

Apparently, there is a word for forgetting your words — lethologica. According to the BBC, the active vocabulary used by an adult in speech and writing often exceeds 50,000 words, so its no wonder we sometimes have a brain freeze and can’t recall the exact word we need.

giphy.gif

“I was talking with a colleague about how we can control the routes photons, ie particles of light can take as they pass through the various solar photovoltaic materials and my mind just went blank,” Coxon continues. “We were in the department tea room and there were crumbs on the table so I guess my mind just jumped and switched photons – a word I must say dozens of times a day, for ‘shiny… crumbs.’ I can’t properly describe it. We both saw the funny side.”

Thank you, sir, for reminding us just how funny a brain fart can be.
